Make This Stop a Highlight on the Trail and Explore Cat Connections at Pittock Mansion

PORTLAND, ORE, August 7, 2024 – Pittock Mansion is excited to announce its participation as a featured stop on Coraline’s Curious Cat Trail, celebrating the 15th anniversary of LAIKA’s debut film, Coraline. As stop number 27, visitors will find a hand-painted Classic Cat statue by Laika set against one of the most stunning views of Portland, making it a must-see location on this artistic journey.

Visitors who come to see the statue at Pittock Mansion’s viewpoint can enjoy a special discount with $1 off admission tickets at the mansion offered only during the run of the event, ending October 13th.

In addition to a self-guided tour of the historic buildings, guests can also participate in a fun cat hunt inside the mansion. The famous Cat painting by artist Carl Kahler is a popular picture moment for visitors. Additionally, the mansion’s gift shop will feature exclusive cat-themed items for sale, purrfect for cat enthusiasts.

“Pittock Mansion invites everyone to come and explore the unique blend of history, art, and community spirit that makes a stop at the Pittock Mansion as part of Coraline’s Curious Cat Trail an unmissable event this summer. We have created some unique cat connection experiences in the mansion and the Gate Lodge highlighting one of the signature cat paintings in the mansion and a glimpse of the Siamese cats that belonged to the Skene family who lived in the Gate Lodge in the mid-1900s.” says Pittock Mansion’s CEO, Paula Gangopadhyay. “Fun collaborations like this with community and entertainment industry partners highlight the importance of shared human experiences that transcend time,” she added.

Coraline’s Curious Cat Trail is a collaborative effort between LAIKA, the Visit Downtown Campaign, Wild in Art, and OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. This 10-week public art trail will showcase 30 artistically designed cat sculptures throughout Downtown Portland, culminating in an auction to benefit OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

Don’t miss your chance to see the cat with the best view of Portland and enjoy all the additional feline fun waiting for you at Pittock Mansion!
